1. They are naturally organised and ensure your day flows smoothly

So firstly – What is a Day-of Coordinator and why would you need one? Their role is to primarily ensure everything runs smoothly on the day of your wedding or event. They could be your original wedding planner or you can hire them just for the day.

Bringing a Day-of Coordinator on board for your event can help you get organised and stay that way. They can work with you in advance to create a timeline so that you don’t miss any of those moments that you’ve always dreamed of; as well as deal with any last minute decisions. It can also be helpful to have someone on board for smaller micro weddings or elopements - for all the following reasons!

2. They are a central point of contact for everyone, both vendors, family members and guests.

A professional Coordinator will be everyone’s go–to person on the day. They will have their own systems and time-honed processes. They will generally organise a spreadsheet with you in advance detailing all vendors’ contact details and will note down any Plan B’s ( e.g. Wet weather scenarios may affect several vendors), as well as any other pertinent information that may not cross your mind.
Too many times we have seen bridesmaids in tears or family members on the verge of an argument simply because something unexpected has cropped up. Without clearly defined roles no one knows who should be doing what or how to fix it.
Your family and guests should be celebrating you and enjoying the preparation process on the day, not running last minute errands. A wedding can be the culmination of months or even years of hard work and there is a tremendous amount of anticipation leading up to this day, so doing all you possibly can to guarantee the day’s success is in your best interest.

3. They are experienced

There’s a lot to be said for experience. An experienced planner can take multiple responsibilities in their stride and also have the confidence and know-how to think on the spot. Whilst it may come with good intentions, employing that teenage family friend who wants a bit of pocket money isn’t necessarily the best decision for such a momentous occasion.

4. They can handle any last minute issues or situations

As you’d know through organising your wedding or elopement even, there are not only countless decisions to be made over a long time period but there are a lot of separate companies or vendors responsible for bringing it all together. Oftentimes the vendors will require things at the same time and this will need to be planned or a solution will need to be found.

For example for an outdoor reception your vendors may require generator access. Your caterer, the band and the lighting guys all need access to it at the same time and are starting to get annoyed at each other. Your coordinator would be the person to sort that out without having to get you involved in the situation.

Who is going to light the candles in the marquee just before your guests stroll in?

Who ensures the photographer has a bite to eat between shots – weddings are such long days and keeping your vendors happy is a really nice thing to do.

Your guests will not want to bother you with these things on your big day and you will also want them to relax and enjoy the party! This leads us into our 5th and final point:

5. They allow the bride & groom to remain present

Last but not least we believe this point to be the most important! Here at Indie Flowers we believe in marrying your best friend – so don’t you want to spend the majority of your day actually being with them?! By outsourcing someone to handle all the nitty gritty details you allow yourself to be more present during the event and enjoy the party you’ve worked so hard to create.

One of our favourite parts of your wedding day is seeing the venue come together with all the floral and décor elements. We love watching your face as you walk down the aisle surrounded by those you love and see it light up at the sight and scent of your custom blooms, perfectly set tables and sparkling candles ready to party at your reception!

If you hire our Day-of-Coordinator services we can work alongside your photographer to ensure those unique to you and all-important details are captured in all their glory.

It was an absolute pleasure being asked to do the gorgeous wedding flowers for this pretty spring wedding for the most gorgeous bohemian couple ocean-side in Sydney in October.
Jennifer and Riaz were married in a simple yet intimately special ocean-side micro wedding style ceremony surrounded by family and those they love. Their photographer, Maria Bernardita captured the ambience and celebration perfectly as the sun set at their seaside reception venue - the chic coastal inspired Watson Bay Boutique Hotel in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

Favouring locally grown and garden-harvested flowers, the Bride’s and maids' signature scented bouquets were filled with seasonal spring flowers.
As well as garden roses, ferns, babies breath and ranunculus - The grooms favourite - pink and white tulips were featured throughout the bridal flowers and ceremony arrangements. Scented garden blooms such as Lavender, sweet peas and spring jasmine were also used in both the hand-tied bouquets as well as the flower crowns as the bride favours organic natural elements.
